The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, established in 1983 and located in Cleveland, Ohio, United States, is dedicated to recording the history of some of the best-known and most influential musicians, bands, producers, and others that have in some major way influenced the music industry, particularly in the area of rock and roll.[1] Originally, there were four categories of induction: performers, non-performers, early influences, and lifetime achievement. In 2000, "sidemen" was introduced as a category.

Young players today have a serious hole in their knowledge of these great ensembles, and one of the best ways to fill it is to provide a concise recommended (or better yet required) list of recordings. This big band discography is a good solid foundation from which to build and with only 25 recordings on the list and 39 CDs (or LPs) in total any jazz student can easily cover it in a couple months or so.
The story of why she began writing and recording again is a compelling and powerful one. In short, she came out recently as queer and has become a fierce advocate for queer and trans rights. While the press has characterized her marriage as Akin to being over she says that is not correct. They remain best friends in a partnership, but as she put it she has chosen to follow desire.
Maria McKee: They all came at once, interestingly enough. I had an experience that reminded me of my youth and it started to snowball. It also created extraordinary heartbreak for me because I felt this sense of regret and longing. I think it was a combination of living this lifestyle which was not me I was realizing. And also in a partnership that I value and am still a member of, but was platonic and mostly a best friendship . So when I started writing it came from this longing for the memory of desire. It was sort of a memorial to desire and longing. I was excavating and while I was doing that I was like building a map to how I wanted to live. And it wasn't until the album was completed that I realized it. And the week the album was finished I met a woman who became my first girlfriend.
I really wanted to play with Jerry. John Kahn was an excellent bass player. Merl Saunders was just like every B3 player I ever met, just always smiling, great guy. And Bill Vitt was one of my best friends. 2ff7e9595c
